The Battery, once known as Battery Park, offers beautiful views whichever way you look: there’s the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on one side, and the One World Trade Center on the other.
It’s at the southern tip of Manhattan and it forms an important part of New York City’s history: in 1855 it was in the park’s Castle Garden that the world’s first immigrant depot stood.
Along the waterfront promenade there are fun activities for kids such as bungee jumping and trampolining, plus food trucks. It’s also a great place to wander and has many benches to sit and relax.
