This naturally sweet coffee and banana kickstarter smoothie packs a punch on mornings when you’re too busy for a proper breakfast
If you’re heading out of the house with no time for a proper breakfast, this caffeine-infused smoothie might just convince your brain that it’s had a fancy iced latte at your favorite roastery.
The yogurt in this recipe is a great source of calcium and protein, which should help to keep you feeling full till lunchtime, while the banana provides a boost of carbs, potassium, vitamin B6 and vitamin C. It’s also naturally sweet but you could add a little honey if you needed more. If you’re feeling a little indulgent, top your smoothie with a little grated dark chocolate instead of cinnamon. We won’t tell!
Don’t forget, if you’re freezing banana, peel and cut them into chunks first.
– About half a ripe banana, peeled (frozen works best)
– 1 cup strong coffee
– ½ cup Greek-style yogurt, frozen
– Few drops of vanilla extract
– ½ tsp ground cinnamon
– Chunk if grated dark chocolate (optional)
Place all ingredients in a blender, holding back some of the liquid to adjust for thickness. Blend, adding liquid if necessary, until desired thickness is reached. Serve with a little extra ground cinnamon on the top.
