The Pageant of the Masters is a 90-minute show that literally brings works of art to life under the stars. Audiences in the outdoor amphitheater are treated to recreations of classic and contemporary artworks, with real people posing to look like the characters in the paintings.
It sounds weird but it’s actually incredible to see – with the magic of the set design, costumes, make-up, orchestra and lighting all coming together – and it’s an attraction that draws tourists and locals alike. Every year there is a new theme, so the art changes too, making this something of an annual tradition for some folk.
Hosted by the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach, the festival is also a celebration of local artists, so you can wander around and see their work (and purchase a piece if you like) and get a bite to eat from the food trucks.
