Anamil Tech is part of the MCC Business Network, as it is owned and run by one of our founders. They are also MCC's production and marketing agency, providing all our design, technical development and web management, as well as social media for our growing audience.
They recently celebrated a rebrand and relaunch with a new website and social platforms, so we spoke with the owners of Anamil Tech about their journey and how they specialise in helping businesses navigate the vast space of brand and marketing.
1. Thanks for joining us! You have worked together for years across various media projects and brands… what prompted you to make the decision to launch Anamil Tech?
Sarah - Before establishing Anamil Tech, I came from a purely academic background. The decision to start Anamil Tech was driven by my desire for a balanced work-life dynamic while my children were young. I wanted to create high-quality, meaningful educational apps by leveraging my academic expertise and firsthand experience as a mother, recognizing the need for effective language-learning tools for children. Starting the company alone, I navigated the challenges of setting up and managing a business, resulting in the creation of an app that was well-received. This success fueled my ambition to expand into a brand, leading to the birth of Pacca Alpaca and my collaboration with Nicole.
Nicole - Sarah initially brought me in to help create and produce Pacca Alpaca, which evolved into our beloved flagship brand. After years of working at the big broadcasters such as Disney and BBC, I met Sarah, we rolled up our sleeves and did everything bottom to top and in between. As a result we knew what it took to not only start from scratch and bring together top quality talent and affordable resources, but work in genuine 'on the ground' collaboration with our clients every step of the way.
Sarah - We quickly connected, and seamlessly formed a team—she brought creative insights, and I contributed systematic and strategic thinking. Fast forward to today, we complete each other’s sentences. During COVID, we saw an opportunity to broaden our scope beyond children’s content when a friend sought our help with their digital presence and branding.
Nicole - Yes, COVID changed everything for everyone. People who knew about our journey, what we were doing, what we had accomplished and general word of mouth, started coming to us for help creating their digital assets. These were mostly entrepreneurs, start-ups, small businesses. And before we knew it, there we were again, rolling up our sleeves and bringing in our network to create and produce anything and everything from creative branding, videos, games, designing websites and presentations and much more.
Sarah - We realized the potential we had to offer as consultants, combining our knowledge and experience, which led to the formation of Anamil Tech as a consultancy.
2. You talk about understanding the challenges that small businesses or new enterprises face, particularly with their branding. Why is that?
Sarah - I often speak about this because I’ve personally navigated this journey myself. Starting from scratch, I experienced every phase of building a successful digital brand—from the mistakes and lessons learned to the achievements that followed. We navigated the dense digital landscape and discovered what it takes to gain recognition and build a digital brand from the ground up.
Nicole - Small thriving businesses always have great ideas, and vision, and a strong point of view (as they should), but they most often struggle with 'getting it down on paper’, or pulling it all together, or deciding on what to prioritise. That is where we often come in - this ability to help shape things from the very beginning, as well as the growth plan (and delivery). Having said that, we also get clients who come to us in the middle of a project that has been over-produced or gone in the wrong direction, so we help to strip it back to its original scope and rebuild from there.
Sarah - And along the way, we've formed valuable connections all over the world, many of whom we continue to collaborate with. We know we have a lot to offer our clients in guiding them through similar paths.
3. You place a lot of emphasis on partnerships. The networks you build and the relationships you create with clients. Is that important to you?
Nicole - Absolutely! We are a small boutique agency, we are a people-first company and with each client, we work closely with them from the inception of their project to capture their vision and expectations. We want to incorporate their passion into the content.
Sarah - Exactly, partnerships and relationships are extremely important to us. At Anamil Tech, what sets us apart from other agencies is our bespoke approach to each project. We assemble a team tailored specifically to our client’s needs. For instance, if a client is looking for branding, we draw from our network of talented designers to find the right match based on their style and vision. For web development, we select the best developers suited to their project, and so on. This ensures that our clients get exactly what they need without being pressured into taking an all-in-one package from us.
Nicole - We also make it very clear that after everything is scoped out with them and we're ready to go into production, all they need to do is sit back, relax, and we 'take care of it all'.
Sarah - We don’t see ourselves as a sales-driven agency; instead, we focus on building long-term relationships with our clients and partners. Our goal is to genuinely support and ensure their success.
4. Marketing, branding and production is vast. You mention that Anamil Tech likes to help businesses keep things as simple as possible. Why is that?
Sarah - Our goal at Anamil Tech is to see our clients succeed. Having gone through this journey ourselves, we understand what works and what doesn’t when building and promoting a brand. Marketing and branding can be overwhelming.
Nicole - We have experienced ourselves way too often going to third party agencies with a new project, and they will try to pitch and oversell way more than what is actually needed. And as we all know, new businesses need to account for every penny. It would even take us hours to go through and try and decipher these complex proposals with lots of padding. And especially with start-ups who are new to this world and tech, they don't know what they need so they end up saying yes to everything and end up spending way more budget than they have to!
Sarah - We will even encourage starting with a small, targeted approach and then reflecting on what has been effective before scaling up. This ensures that every step is intentional and efficient. Our priority is to provide genuine advice tailored to where our clients are in their branding journey. By simplifying processes and focusing on what truly matters, we guide our clients toward sustainable grow and long-term success.
5. You have a new website and you’ve been very busy with some recent launches and updates. What does the future look like for Anamil Tech?
Nicole - We would like to remain a small boutique agency that has the bandwidth to continue and give each and every one of our clients top quality attention, talent, resources and delivery. We are not in this to become a huge expanding corporate agency, we LOVE what we do - the close collaboration with our clients, working with our network of amazing designers, animators, developers and so on.
Sarah - We’re very excited about this new phase for Anamil Tech. With our updated branding and refreshed website, we’re positioning ourselves to reach the potential we have always envisioned. Our aim is to assist as many startups and brands as possible, providing them with the tailored support they need to thrive. We’re also committed to expanding our network of connections and partnerships to ensure we can continue to deliver the highest quality services. The future for Anamil Tech is all about support, collaboration, and making a meaningful impact.
