Paris has been particularly popular with MCC members this year, with the Olympics following the French Open and Paris Fashion Week coming this month. Through this, we’ve seen the Parisian restaurant landscape evolve as new hot-spots mix with long time favourites. We’re taking a look at the most popular restaurants based on bookings this summer - we hope they are useful recommendations if you’re still planning to visit Paris this year.
Frenchie
This Michelin-guide bistro has developed a reputation over the years for its creative and fresh take on traditional French cuisine, influenced by the seasons and constantly evolving. Owner Greg Marchand calls it a “micro-restaurant”, with an intimate, family feel designed to welcome people back again and again. The restaurant encourages guests to try the five-course carte blanche tasting menu that is renowned for its creativity but is unpretentious. Le Frenchie is in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris, close to the Opéra Garnier and the Palais Royal.
Mondaine de Pariso
Where traditional French culture and cuisine is served in an extravagant, ritzy atmosphere. Mondaine de Pariso calls itself a “storybook of Parisian splendor” and indeed, an evening here is an experience. Influenced by 1970s cabaret, they offer avant-garden entertainment and a celebratory menu of signature dishes such as dover sole, king crab and avocado salad, lobster rolls and beef tartare with french fries. Located in the 8th arrondissement not far from Champs-Élysées, Mondaine promises the best in luxury Parisian escapism.
Sinner
A trendy and stylish restaurant located in the Marais district of the city, offering a unique dining experience with a menu inspired by street food culture on an international stage. With nods to Latin America, the Middle East and the Kanoun technique of North Africa, they offer a vibrant fusion menu that is exciting yet accessible. This unusual and creative approach gives the restaurant an energetic and sociable atmosphere. Sinner is part of the 5* Sinner Hotel in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris.
Le Bon Georges
A classic Parisian bistro with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, Le Bon Georges is a favorite among locals and visitors looking for a delicious and authentic French dining experience, which has won several awards. The classic French food and decor is not unlike many other bistros in Paris, but the bustling, international clientele prove that Le Bon Georges is a step above its competitors. It is located in central Paris close to Saint-Georges metro.
Jin
Popular, stylish Japanese restaurant that only offers its famed “Omasake” menu - a tasting menu of fresh and raw seafood that has developed a reputation across Paris and beyond. The restaurant takes its authenticity very seriously with minimal decor and adornments that serve as a reminder that the luxurious, Michelin-starred food is the star of the show. Located in the 1st arrondissement close to Jardin des Tuileries and the Louvre.
Chez Janou
For those wanting a more relaxed, neighbourhood-style take on Parisian culture, look no further than Chez Janou. Another popular French bistro, this restaurant takes inspiration from Provençal cuisine and offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere to accompany its classic dishes such as bouillabaisse, ratatouille, and chocolate mousse. The place might be less extravagant than some of its neighbours but the food is just as authentic, and just as popular. Located on the Eastern edge of Le Marais district, next to Chemin Vert metro and close to Place de Bastille.
