New London restaurant openings - Autumn 2023

Another month and another slew of fabulous restaurant openings in London to look forward to this autumn. Visitors to the capital are in for an absolute treat, with new eateries from Michelin-star chefs Richard Corrigan and Tom Sellers, as well as the London outpost of much-loved French restaurant Pavyllon courtesy of superstar chef Yannick Alléno.

1. Dovetail, 1 Hotel Mayfair

Summer’s most hyped opening from two-Michelin-star chef Tom Sellers is a masterclass in restrained elegance, with a provenance-driven European menu featuring grill-cooked dishes and an extensive raw bar. Secure your reservation early for this one - it’s sure to be an instant favourite with London’s foodie crowd.

2. The Portrait by Richard Corrigan at the National Portrait Gallery

Recently opened following a three-year renovation, the National Portrait Gallery and its top floor restaurant are back with a bang! Celebrated Irish Chef Richard Corrigan is at the helm this time around with a contemporary British menu that showcases overlooked fish and shellfish delicacies and diverse meat and game.

3. Luca, Clarkenwell - special edition menu in August

OK, so not strictly a new addition to the London culinary scene, but worth mentioning here since bagging itself a coveted Michelin star. To celebrate, head chef Robert Chambers is hosting a limited edition Ferragosto menu during August. The £85 five-course set menu includes tortellini of pistachio pesto with smoked sheep's ricotta and other delicious Italian morsels, all cooked to perfection.

4. Pavyllon at Four Seasons Hotel, Park Lane

Multi-Michelin starred chef Yannick Alléno’s new London outpost at the Four Seasons Hotel is already making waves following its grand opening at the end of July. Alléno’s innovative approach to French cuisine incorporates the very best of seasonal British produce and includes familiar dishes such as lobster tail and beef stroganoff, while the ‘Badaboum’ egg is a must try.

5. The Freak Scene - Parson’s Green

Putting an eclectic twist on Southeast Asian plates, The Freak Scene is the now-permanent home of former Nobu head chef Scott Hallsworth’s successful pop-up. Expect maximalist flavours, kookery decor and excellent service.

6. Daroco Soho (opening September)

Keen an eye out for Daroco’s new London outpost that’s due to open in September. The Italian-inspired menu will feature elevated pizzas, with a Daroco twist, and handmade pastas. Comfort food at its finest.

7. Chishuru, Fitzrovia

Self-taught Nigerian-born chef Adejoké Bakare’s much-anticipated permanent eatery in Fitzrovia is poised to open anytime following the success of her pop-up in Brixton market. Keep an eye out for the grand opening this autumn…

8. Aulis, Soho

This gorgeous little restaurant, hidden just off Dean Street, is limited to 12 covers and has recently reopened following a refurb. Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan’s tasting menu is an immersive experience with 14 courses changed daily and cooked in front of the expectant diners. An elevated dining experience not to be missed.
