Take a tour of London's best sushi restaurants, according to MCC
There's certainly no shortage of sushi establishments in London, but with so many to choose from, making a reservation can be overwhelming at times. 1. Chisou
One of two outlets - the other is in Knightsbridge - serving a full Japanese menu that includes sushi made in-house from fish delivered daily. The decor is contemporary and although the restaurant is not large, there is outside seating.

2. Endo at Rotunda
Michelin-starred restaurant serving high-end Japanese food, high up in the former BBC Television Centre, with great views over London. A theatrical omakase menu by sushi master Endo Kazutoshi is served in an expensive, deceptively minimalist setting.

3. KOYN
Elegant, high-end - and relatively new - Koyn is housed in the imposing building that was once the US embassy in Grosvenor Square. There’s a sushi restaurant, Midori, on the ground floor and a robata restaurant below.

4. The Fuji Grill, Beaverbrook Town House, Chelsea
Authentic sushi on a menu of other Japanese delights in the upscale Beaverbrook Townhouse boutique hotel, reimagining the style of former Press baron Lord Beaverbrook.

5. SushiSamba - City and Covent Garden
Part of a small but growing international chain, SushiSamba fuses the cuisines of Japan, Peru and Brazil and serves everything from sushi to steaks in a lively, opulent atmosphere. The City branch is on the 38th and 39th floors of the Heron Tower with spectacular views. The Covent Garden branch sits in the Opera Terrace on top of the historic market building.

6. Sachi (Pantechnicon)
This Japanese restaurant with a sushi bar and elegant contemporary decor, sits within the historic Pantechnicon building which offers five floors of Japanese and Nordic shopping and dining.

7. Maru
With a mention in the Michelin Guide, this small (10-seat) Japanese restaurant serving an omakase menu is led by third-generation sushi chef Taiji Maruyama with great attention to detail.

8. Taka

9. Nobu Old Park Lane (and various locations)
International chain Nobu now has three locations in London, but this was its first in Europe, opened in 1997, and has a mention in the Michelin Guide for its fun atmosphere and signature Japanese/South American cuisine, including sushi.

10. Kikuchi
Small but smart Japanese restaurant from sushi master Masayuki Kikuchi, serving an omakase menu that includes sushi, but also serving à la carte.

11. Roketsu
This small, simply furnished restaurant with just ten seats and a counter, has earned itself a mention in the Michelin Guide for its kaiseki menu - a specific set of courses based on seasonality.

12. Sexy Fish (not just sushi…)

15. The Araki
The Araki is the first overseas venture of top chef Mitsuhiro Araki, whose original Tokyo restaurant gained three Michelin stars. His second outlet in Hong Kong has one star. The Araki London, now under chef Marty Lau, has just nine seats with a further six for private dining, for serving just one omakase menu. Expensive and exclusive but a true Japanese experience.
