1. Tatiana
Chef Kwame Onwuachi grew up in New York with a chef for a mother and his devoted sister Tatiana as his “culinary nurse” as he puts it. His smart restaurant in the Lincoln Center offers an eclectic menu reflecting diverse cuisines, including that of his Nigerian heritage.

2. Maialino (Vicino)
This revival of one of New York’s most popular Italian restaurants has now arrived at the four-star Redbury hotel in mid-Manhattan from its original location at Gramercy Park, and offers the traditional trattoria dishes for which it was famed.

3. Monkey Bar
This quintessentially New York restaurant with its sunken dining area and red plush booths, has actually been around since the 1930s, but counts as a new opening because it has changed hands and had a smart revamp. 4. Lord’s
Described as a modern British bistro, Lord’s offers nose-to-tail cookery from the pig’s head backwards, in a traditional-style wood-paneled decor. 8. Potluck Club

10. Pecking House
Chef Eric Huang grew up around his family’s restaurants in New York and hoped to run a Michelin-starred restaurant eventually. But the pandemic led to him running a pop-up fried chicken delivery operation that was so successful it has now expanded into a sit-down restaurant as well.
