1. Akabeko

Fusing the very best of French and Japanese cuisine, elegant new eatery Akabeko is the brainchild of renowned chef Yasuo Nanaumi and his son, Ken. Lose yourself in the delightful seven course Omakase menu, which includes delicacies such as soybean and shiso leaf tempura served with caviar and pan-seared Périgord foie gras. Opt for a counter seat for casual dining, or a table upstairs if you prefer a more cosy dining experience. The seasonal menu is updated regularly.

2. Le Cyrano

This well-known neighbourhood haunt has recently reopened after a welcome glow-up, transforming the former wine bar into a noteworthy Mediterranean restaurant under self-taught chef Charleyne Valet. Art Nouveau architectural flourishes have been preserved for diners who like their lunch with a side of culture, while the elevated menu and convivial atmosphere keep those in the know coming back for seconds. A small but perfectly formed addition to the Parisian foodie scene.

3. Eunoé

Japanese chef Ryuji Sato (of Michelin-starred Nomicos fame) and Felix Perrotte (who takes care of front-of-house) have created a laid back, instant favourite in Eunoé. Stripped-back but thoughtful interiors echo the seemingly simple yet delicious bistro menu that never misses a beat. Earthy refined dishes, with a focus on vegetables with a Japanese twist, take centre stage for a relaxed dining experience that will leave you wanting more.

4. Hotel Eldorado Restaurant

Recently reopened following a major refurbishment, Hotel Eldorado and its eponymous restaurant have been transformed with House of Hackney wallpaper and plush velvet upholstery. The result is eye-catching and cosy while the comforting menu showcases suitably elevated French classics and traditional fare.

5. Dar Mima

Set atop the roof of the Institut du Monde Arabe in a joint venture between top French comedian Jamel Debbouze and hospitality group Paris Society, Dar Mima is a celebration of all things Middle Eastern. 6. Aube

Brunch fans rejoice! This delightful neighborhood establishment from American chef and food writer Carrie Solomon serves up delicious breakfasts, lunches and brunches and everything in between in a quirky setting close to Bastille. The largely vegetarian (though not strictly) menu includes the fluffiest pancakes, devilled eggs and delicate trout. Closes at 4.30pm.

7. Lou Paris

Serving up tastes from her native California, chef patron Mailea Weger’s new venture is as buzzy and relaxed as it comes in Paris. All white walls and concrete floors, the decor is bright and welcoming, while the cuisine combines novel flavours - green pea ice cream anyone - to create a menu that’s fresh and innovative. Open for lunch and dinner and everything in-between.

8. Le Rhodia

This stylish lunch spot is tucked away inside the Bourdelle Museum, although the delicious fusion cuisine is worth the pilgrimage alone. Chef Jean-René Chassignol’s menu is influenced by South-American flavours with empanadas and ceviches served alongside French classics such as boeuf bourguignon. The weekend brunch is also worth a visit.
