Visitors to the UK capital are in for a gastronomic treat this summer! The city’s eclectic restaurant scene is booming with new openings happening seemingly every week. But a slew of new eateries from the likes of Big Mamma Group, of Ave Mario fame, and Tomos Parry, chef-patron of Brat (which, incidentally, has just retained its spot as one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants) look set to spice things up. 1. Kima, Marylebone

Opening in July, this hotly-anticipated eatery from restaurateurs Nikos Roussos and Andreas Labridis has a waste not, want not philosophy with a Greek-infused twist. Expect to feast on fried tails with aioli, and charred fish collars drizzled with olive oil and lemon alongside whole turbots and catch of the day for a fin to grill experience that’s sure to thrill.

2. Mountain, Soho

Sister  to the more famous Michelin-Starred Brat in East London, Mountain is set to bring its signature wood-fire grilled seafood and choice meat cuts to Soho this summer. Due to open on 11th July, be prepared to book ahead for what is expected to be one of the hottest tables in town, and a welcome addition to the West End foodie scene.

3. Carlotta, Marylebone

The latest offering from the unstoppable Big Mamma Group (think Ava Mario, Circo Popolare etc.), Carlotta serves up more of the same decadent Italian-style interiors with a menu focussed on Neapolitan and Sicilian dishes as well as American-style grills. Maximalism at its finest.

4. Humo, Mayfair

Humo - which means ‘smoke’ in Spanish brings another open-fire grill to London diners, this time courtesy of Chef Miller Prada, protégé of Endo Kazutoshi of Michelin starred Endo at the Rotunda. Rather than focus on one specific type of cuisine, Humo’s menu showcases the best of seasonal British produce with a Japanese twist. ‘Fire dining’ in an elegant setting.

5. Midland Grand Dining Room, Kings Cross

Set within the jaw-dropping walls of the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel, Midland Grand is the latest offering from talented Irish chef Patrick Powell, of Chiltern Firehouse and Allegra fame. The French-leaning menu is fresh and innovative, while the sumptuous interiors live up to its ‘grand’ moniker. The perfect spot for a special occasion or bag a table on Sunday for its impressive take on a traditional roast.

6. Empire Empire, Notting Hill

If you like your Indian food with a side of Bollywood the 1970s Indian disco era, Empire Empire is the one! Gunpowder’s Harneet Bawej’s newest venture serves up delicious Punjabi-inspired dishes in a fun setting that seamlessly fuses Indian music and art. Go for the Lobster Dum Biriyani and Lasooni Tangdi Kebab, and come out sated and smiling.

7. Cantinetta Antinori, Knightsbridge

This recently opened family-run eatery brings the flavours of Tuscany to the capital in a stylish setting one would expect of Knightsbridge. With outposts in Monaco and Vienna, among other glamorous locations, this is the Antinori family’s first foray into the London dining scene - not that you can tell. Florentine T-bone steaks are cooked to perfection while the freshest octopus is served crispy with potato cream. Be sure to leave room for the tiramisù.
